I quite enjoyed those parts. The fight with the ghost was hilarious--they used some intelligence, and then Venkman did something outrageous and self-serving, leading to some great banter at the court house.
I do admit the continuity nerd in me is a bit confused. Janine still acts enthused about Phil Dendron, leading me to initially suspect this story took place between "Ragnarok and Roll" and "A Ghost Grows In Brooklyn", but the references to the Lotsabucks in chapter 10 make it clear it's after "Janine, You've Changed."
I guess the explaination I can offer is that since Janine didn't interact with Dendron as much in "Ghost Grows..." she didn't know what a jerk he really was, and still considers herself a fan.
Anyway, that little nerd nitpick aside, great story.

Interesting observation, Fritz. Actually, the coninuity is correct. It does take place after JYC. (Though I can't really vouch for my own continuity in this because I just toss out the executive meddling episodes AND GBII...lol). Quite frankly, Dendron didn't really strike me as that much of a jerk. Peter strikes me as much, much more of a die-hard jerk than Dendron. A bit self-serving, and flamboyant, yes, but not a jerk. To me, Dendron was there seemingly solely for comic effect, so that's how I took his character. Even Egon understands him, even though perhaps on solely a professional level as a fellow scientist. (And on the other hand..."plant psychologist" makes me lol hard too.) True, he might wear very thin to Janine if she had to hang out with him (SPOILER: I see his wife as much much more personable and level-headed than himself!) for any extended amount of time, because he's so wacky. But heck, she deals with Peter on a daily basis and even loves him....sometimes....so there ya go. ^_^

Just finished up to Chapter 13 and am already making predictions about what might be coming. I don't know why but I love how Egon is subtly protective/possessive over Janine. That part where he sternly refuses someone else from the hotel to carry her to their room made me lol inside.

Chapter 14 was a lovely surprise for this morning! Thank you for posting.
Two thoughts: Why is Egon mad at the implication of the pamplets and is Phil really a bad guy about to cause all sorts of problems? Or is his wife just jealous enough to try to do something to Janine?
Loving the story, keep em comin!

I enjoyed the part about Slimer! she didn't say anything about how it should have little kids called "The Jr. Ghostbusters" though. And how Jannie should fall for an accountant. That was funny, and it's nice to see humor in the middle of something serious. Good writing.

16-18 is live now, too. Poor Spengs! <3 It might go a little faster because I had a lot of these later things written first so I could get it out of my system, and get it right. Hope you like. Oh wow, this is getting good. I do not want to be that guy who's holding Janine if Egon gets that fire in his blood again.

It's strange, I know, but the thing I feel like I gotta comment about are the scenes with Slimer the last few chapters. The thought of Slimer in a suit and eating with table manners...that's just such a hilarious, surreal inversion of his normal behavior. I suspect Venkman's right, of course, that when Slimer snaps back to "normal" it won't be pretty.
The rest is all great, of course. Moody, tense, insightful. Very neat so far.
