And boy, are there a lot of them. As I type this, on August 25th 2007, three years' worth of stories are available on my fanfiction.net page here. The only pieces not available here are the shorts focusing on my original characters that I will occasionally submit to deviantart, currently this, this and this.

From now on, instead of starting a new thread every time I release a new story and clogging up the board, all new releases will be announced here. The latest, published to ffn a couple of weeks ago now, is a relatively (though still not very) short and unchallenging piece titled "Mr. and Mrs. Smith".

Now, I must end this post on a question to Fritz, who kindly beta read the story scheduled for release in September and knows why it will be rated M on ffn. Fritz, would you prefer it if I didn't post links to my more adult-themed stories here?

Links are okay as long as you note that it's M-rated. I don't have to follow the same Terms of Service Proboards had (MUST be suitable for age 13); here's it's a little more of a guideline than a rule.

Pretty much anything short of straight-out porn as long as you warn us.

A Tale of Two Sisters

Try to guess who this is about. (Title swiped from a novel that's classified as chick lit, even though it's so much better than that.)

About April/May-ish 2023.

This might get away with a K+ rating, but let's say T to be on the safe side.

(I am hoping this short-ish stand-alone story will be the last of its kind, at least until sometime in 2008. Hoping.)

(Spoilers Ahead)

I gotta admit, that was a great twist. I guess that recent story following up on "Eyes of a Dragon" kind of inspired you? The son of someone the EGBs knew years ago, and he's a cop. Which both could provoke some interesting reactions in Eduardo, but still makes sense--there are so many cops in the Rivera family tree, why not have Conchita attracted to one?

(Continuing the spoilers)

Well, I had two things on my mind: have Conchita get involved with a cop, and revisit the Wu situation. And when I have two things on my mind like that, I'm very often lazy enough to combine them if at all possible.

I wondered if I'd be able to reveal in this that Eduardo was right about it being a shotgun wedding, of which Dennis is the result - but I don't think Rose would even figure that out, never mind remark on it in the middle of the police station.

Edit:

Quote:
'...Hey, imagine if you and Dennis had kids. They’d be a quarter white, a quarter Hispanic and half Chinese.’

Conchita shook her head. ‘No they wouldn’t.’

Rose frowned slightly - a reflex reaction to being flatly contradicted. ‘What do you mean, no they wouldn’t?’

‘Well,’ said Conchita, ‘Dennis’s mom’s mom was white. So they’d be, um… ah hell, I can’t work out the fractions now. A quarter Hispanic and then equal parts white and Chinese.’

Ok, for anybody who cares - so... probably just me - I got my brother to remind me how to add up fractions, and then worked out the following:

1/4 Hispanic
3/8 white
3/8 Chinese

It seems so simple now. I'm quite confident that either of Kylie's daughters could work that out, but when I was writing the story and rather struggling with it, it occurred to me that they probably wouldn't bother in the middle of a cafe. :P

Hey, look at me, releasing a special for a day that - as far as I remember - no one currently on this board celebrates except for me. Ideally I would have released this tomorrow i.e. on Bonfire Night (only... during the day), but I'm busy all day and then I'm doing the whole fireworks thing, so here it is now:

Extreme Ghostbusters: The Sweetest Thing

When Eduardo's nephew Kevin comes home after a long time away, he is followed by a young English woman who may or may not be making attempts on his family's life using fireworks. And in the meantime, like Dorothy, Eduardo has a witch (or two) mad at him...

Though you can enjoy the main plot of this story all by itself, bits of it follow on directly from my last very long and overcomplicated story, "I'll Never Tell".

In other news, this little uncomplicated short story inspired by personal favourite original characters, Hayden Wallance and Jessica Venkman, has won me a three-month subscription on deviantArt (and I also have another month's subscription for coming third in a Halloween contest... that's what I did for Halloween). So anyone who's signed on there, please feel free to clutter my shoutbox and vote in my poll. :D

I really like this story. Something mean is being brewed up here, and the fact that it involves actual EGB canon characters makes it all the better.

Extreme Ghostbusters: Desire

Following on from 'The Sweetest Thing', Wanda and Celine are finally executing their revenge on Eduardo.

This is an M-rated story. Please note the warnings at the start.

Extreme Ghostbusters: The Spirit of Christmas

The Extreme Ghostbusters have got their work cut out when Christmas itself seems to be rebelling.

This is an episode-style/length story; what an EGB Christmas special might have been, had one ever been made. Would you believe I've been wanting to do this for about four years?

Rated K, or G if it was moving image.

Fritz, it's Timeline-compatible, and also fits nicely onto the end of the series. Everyone wins. :P

Eh...maybe not a 100% fit. Belmont's "Mito-Conundrum" was around Christmas 1997 also, and Egon ended up hospitalized, but anyway...

A nice look at some of the issues of dueling consumerism and charity around the Christmas holiday, without bludgeoning it over us like a blunt instrument. There was just enough doubt throughout as to what Coppernose was up to, and what his real motive was, it could have worked out no matter which side of the truth he'd fallen on (Not wanting to spoil too much)

Bess Napier makes an appearance. You hadn't really dealt with her brief relationship with Eduardo before except in the context of "it was all over and done with years ago"; probably for the best, as it keeps poor Bess from becoming EGB's Louis Tully.

According to "X-Mas Marks the Spot", by the way, Janine does have some appreciation of the secular aspects of the holiday, or at least Egon somehow had that impression. Of course Coppernose might not really care, right?

Actually I tried it a couple of times, and the story always ended up on the scrapheap. I don't know whether it was anything to do with Bess herself, or I just didn't happen to be on form those particular times. I may try again one of these days, but right now I really don't know what I'd do, so there's no point in starting anything.

That was one of those RGB episodes I've seen within living memory, and I do remember the whole, Janine's not into Christmas anymore! What happened? thing. But there was no time to go into that in a twenty-two-minute episode, and yeah, Coppernose wouldn't give a rat's bottom. :geek:

With no good idea of what to call this one, I'm just linking to it with a refrain from the duet by Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue:

Cos the Kids are All right

(If I ever think of anything good, I'll change it.)

So, this is a collection of short stories about each of the EGB offspring so far. Maybe I'll have cause to add to this one in a few years' time, but not yet. Any sequels to these events will appear as different stories, just because I like to make things confusing for myself.

(Right now I have loads of ideas, but not very much time to write them and a feeling that I should first start to resolve some of the stuff left at the end of "Desire". But you never know with me.)

EGBFan I wish I could write with your conviction. You really own your characters and it comes through so well in your stories. This last piece is great because it stabilizes facts and lets the readers have a source to come back to if they ever can't remember what is supposed to be happening. Excellent.

Well thank you, ghostdiva, for your kind words - and to the other couple of people who have left kind words here also. :)

Let me tell you where I'm at right now. I have two fairly solid ideas for stories that I don't want to be writing just yet. Before I start on those, I want to do something with at least one of my two vague ideas leading on from the stories that I've been doing set in the present day. Hopefully, these ideas will set themselves into something solid before we are very much older.

BUT with increasing demands on my time, I'm spending more time than ever procrastinating on the internet - and when I do get around to writing, it's not fanfiction. I have other stuff I need to be writing - I won't bore you with the details - and right now the GB stuff isn't coming together in my head. When it does, I'm going to have to write it, so I'm really not going to commit myself to a break from fanfiction of any length, long or short. But at this time of 20.01 GMT on Sunday the twenty-seventh of January, I am taking a break.
