Kylie and Eduardo: 'Stop Standing There'
The link goes to where you can view the video on my website, because there you will see a sentence stating the obvious about why I had the urge to make one of those music/clip collection things for Eduardo and Kylie. However, there is nothing about the amount of time and frustration that went into it, nor how happy I am with the final result (perhaps I'll get to that here when I've had time to calm down).
It occurs to me that interested parties may have the problem I have with trying to watch other such videos i.e. really disliking the song (isn't there some square around here who hates most music recorded after 1989?... sounds familiar!). But please, if you do not like the song but you do like me, I beg you to listen carefully just once because a lot of work went into matching clips to lyrics (as far as possible, anyway).
The name of this thread is designed to be flexible; I may nor may not create some other kind of GB-related YouTube content at some point in the future.

It really is amazing how perfectly the music and images sync up in this video. Most efforts of this nature are not really worth watching for me because they're not particularly well thought out, but EGBFan's video bucks that trend in both ways! I'm well aware of how much time and effort went into this piece of work (plus I contributed a couple of very useful ideas myself) and the end result is definitely spectacular.

As someone who can't even look at video editing software without feeling intimidated, I'm impressed and just slightly jealous of what you've done. I guess I'm just doomed to stick with static images and the occasional audio edit to make ringtones.
Great job there.

Aww, I don't think I've ever made anyone even slightly jealous before, and I don't altogether like it!* But I do like to impress, on the rare occasions when that happens, so thanks.
As I don't consider myself very technical, it's tempting to assert that if I can do it, anyone can... but many other factors are involved, including patience and how much one really wants to see the completed product. At first, Clipchamp and I were getting along rather well, and it was satisfying for me when we got something pretty much perfect.** Then it suddenly stopped being truthful about where we'd actually cut off the clip, and that was incredibly frustrating. At one point, KevinsMensPyjamas was tickled by the irony of someone who was trying to enjoy a creative fan activity being compelled to say, 'No, no, no, no! *#%!ing thing.'
It's true that KMP also made some helpful suggestions, not the least of which was to use the clip of Eduardo 'being scared' when he realises he has got inside Kylie's kitty; I think that bit turned out rather well. Indeed, I am extremely happy with the whole thing. I didn't have a precise idea of how it would turn out, so I can't exactly say it's better than I imagined... but better than I thought I could do, perhaps. I think I do want to make more videos, but I must remember how frustrating it can be to champ quite so many clips!
*I suppose it might be a different story if it were someone I didn't like...
**I wonder if anyone besides me has noticed Kylie mouthing 'I am' just as Avril is singing it? That was lucky - I would've never attempted it on purpose!

My website has another new page: Commentaries
I attempted something like this quite a few years ago, but I think I'm better at it now, for various reasons (I mean, don't set your expectations too high...). I'll be posting these sporadically, when I feel like it, choosing episodes in no particular order according to my whim.
You can click the link above, or go straight to YouTube for my first episode commentary (should you wish): 'Til Death Do Us Start

How soon one forgets!
Eduardo and Kylie: 'Not While I'm Around'
Actually, though, I considered I had become quite adept at that point and rather enjoyed the process. Here's what I said about this video on my website:
Quote: ...A couple of weeks later, I came across 'Not While I'm Around' by sheer chance (not being familiar with the Sweeney Todd musical), and it just seemed to be asking for it! I'm glad to have the two different voices, styles and perspectives, but I think any more than two would be excessive. Thanks go to Rob Houchen for recording the (in my opinion) best male rendition of 'Not While I'm Around', and to Jake for his suggestions. (No thanks go to YouTube Studio for its inadequate selection of auto-generated thumbnails!!)

Lol...First of all, well done as always. I half suspect you picked this episode to get a reaction from...certain people. Which I would assume means/includes me.
I know you've heard me yammering about his subject for twenty-two years, so I won't repeat myself at length.
--I'll believe it when I see it.
Your reading of things between Egon and Janine when you first watched it isn't completely wrong. Someone who didn't know anything outside the movies and maybe vague memories of The Real Ghostbusters would probably have about the same read.
It was more confusing to someone who obsessed over them like me, because it was frustrating to see just about all of the development made to them in the later years of RGB (ie "Janine You've Changed" and some of the Now Comics) pretty much ignored. I guess it's why Ben came up with the, in hindsight, kind of hokey "She suffered memory loss and Egon didn't know how much she got back" explanation.
Janine is a great character that's been badly treated by her creators starting in 1987 and all but completely ruined so badly in 1989 that the (official) versions never really recovered from it.
Ah well, at least in some fan universes things worked out for her and Egon.
Lol at Kylie and Eduardo with the bugs up his pantlegs.
--A bunch of bugs got into Eduardo's trousers before I did!!!
Looking forward to the next one.

The reasons I gave for choosing it were quite true, but I admit, I was 99% addressing you when I said 'forgive me' and made my excuses.

Doing this commentary, and reading your response, has made me remember (I honestly haven't been consciously keeping all this to myself for 20+ years!) not only those early impressions of the relationship, but also learning that you were invested in it. When you answered my first email with (among other things) that information, I kind of thought: Huh... that was something people got into? Then, I think, I realised there was no reason at all why not, as my own ideas were vague and long-ago. I honestly didn't think that much more about it until very recently.
(Well, whatever I thought about Egon and Janine, I did a bit better than Jake, who has publicly admitted* that he forgot there was any such thing between them in RGB at all!)
Quote: Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you - that's encouraging. Right now I actually have two raw recordings; once those are out, I don't think I'll be posting commentaries with unerring regularity, but I know I'll be doing more when I can and when I feel like it.
*Re. the link: in the right-hand column, under the subheading 'The Crawler' (if anyone really wants to know).

Commentary number three is In Your Dreams.
Having finished with this one of the two raw recordings I had, I now still have two raw recordings. So that should be two more regular Friday releases, at least...

It's particularly interesting what you say about Steven Melching's writing on this one. I've been watching The Mummy recently and I've come to realise that while he does some excellent character writing (at least for the characters that particularly interest him!) he can be rather careless and overly free with wider context and world-building, which can take the viewer "out of it" a little.

Purple and yellow are the colors of the LA Lakers (I didn't know until I googled "purple and yellow basketball team") but yeah, since they're usually one of the best teams in the NBA, Garrett dreaming about singlehandedly creaming the Lakers is very in character.
Sounds like you sleep like Ogre, and our Dad. Mom used to joke they could sleep through a tornado hitting the house.
Wow. It had been so long since I watched this episode, I forgot that Morpheus kind of looked like Fat Thanos.
Hm...some insights I didn't have all those years ago:
Egon dreams of being naked in public could be very very symbolic of how he struggled with his emotions for so long, a fear of being exposed. Egon is probably helped in taking control of his dream by his experience with the Sandman all those years ago (1986 or 1984, depending on how you estimate it)
Janine dreams of everyone vanishing. She's afraid of being alone. Her friends and her all broke up years ago; her exasperating relationship with Egon; she's scared that she's going to spend the rest of her life alone (I have bad news for your movie counterpart, Janine...)
One of the RGB mannequins appears when Roland and Eduardo are chasing the worm-thing; it's face isn't blurred out, though it's less prominent in the shot and is hard to tell as any one person (though it looks most like Ray or Winston to me)
The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade is held in New York every Thanksgiving, which in the Colonies here is the fourth Thursday in November. There's lots of big floats and balloons. The RGB episode "Revenge of Murray The Mantis" takes place during one.
Another enjoyable commentary.

Thank you, guys, for your comments. Two very different responses to my thoughts on Egon and Janine's dreams there (one generous to the writer, the other not very). It's nice to know I've got you thinking/reassessing so much, Fritz (I know I don't have much insight into Egon and Janine, and I don't know if I'll have much opportunity to learn with the other episodes I hope to do in the coming months!).
I still have two raw recordings, and at one time I had three, but one has now become my finalised commentary on Casting the Runes (do look closely between the letters at Rifkin's, er, facility... they almost cover the evidence of what I'm about to say!).

This one was bound to come out sooner rather than later: Rage
I have another commentary scheduled for next week (as my entire known audience is aware, even down to which episode it is), and after that, I really do plan on slowing down.

I apologize for taking so long to watch this (last week was pretty busy) but here we go:
I feel you on "this episode is great but looks like crap". There was some audio problems on one of my very favorite RGB episodes, "Janine, You've Changed", that sounded like the soundmix was being put through a tiny aluminium can.
I guess the trolls picked the Brooklyn Bridge because the Queensboro Bridge had been claimed by a different troll clan ("Troll Bridge")
Holy crap, yeah, that shot of Garrett's mouth looks like they just had an intern scribble it on. A drunk intern.
--Very very drunk
I admit, this far into the series, how in the world did Carlos NOT hear about Eduardo being involved with Ghostbusters? If nothing else, other cops would have seen them, and somebody had to go "Hey, that one kid has the same nose as Carl Rivera" and asked about it. I know it had to be that way to create the tension and the big reveal, but it'd make more sense if this story took place early in the series instead of September. I dunno...
At least unlike when imps were neutronized ("Janine's Day Off") or Slimer was hit with the plasmic strainer ("Adventures in Slime and Space"), the trolls didn't reassemble but become an enormous monster because of all the increased mass. Magic everybody!
