So while I was out enjoying Gen Con, I got an email from GoDaddy, this web site's host.

The long and short is that they're discontinuing the use of older versions of Php unless I pay them a little extra. This board's software runs on an older version of Php--one time a couple years ago they upgraded to a more recent version, and it completely broke the board software until I reset it. I won't be able to do that anymore after September.

So probably next weekend I will close the board--hopefully temporarily--and update it to more recently PhpBB software, then allow the Php upgrade to occur. If it works the way I want, I'll reopen the board and everything will be fine.

I haven't updated until now more because I'm using styles based on a default style that is no longer supported. I think it will still work based on some localhost testing with a server emulator, but I can't guarantee that 100%. I could and probably should redo the styles based on the still supported default style, but I've started a couple times and given up because it's too big a pain in the ass.

So the next couple weeks might be...interesting.

Just wanted to warn everyone.

I've already done a test on an improved emulation...everything works but the zodiac extension.

If I can't figure it out I'll just go ahead without it, though I'd still put them on the birthday shoutouts.

So I've fixed one issue--there will definitely be some version of the zodiac extension--I just have to see if I can tweak it to get closer to what we're used to.

Well, this board is now PhpBB3.3.12, and since you see this post it looks like it's working.

The zodiac icons are still there, they're just less colorful--the latest version of the extension rewrote it to use special characters instead of images. I'll keep trying to get it modified back to closer to what we had before, but for now it'll do. The more colorful images will still show up in the birthday greetings.

Well, for some reason Ectozone.com urls are going to a "landing" page. I've got the domain paid through the next two years, so this is hopefully just a hickup.

If it isn't working tomorrow I'll contact the company I lease it from. Ectozone.net urls are still working just fine.
