I LOVE doing this for various 'Ships, and some of these ideas turn into absolutely *WIN* videos (hint, hint... ;) )
So, I put forth to the rest of The Community:
What would be your top songs to represent the E/J relationship?
:ej4ever:
I'm not going to require a certain specific number,
because that's arbitrary and often limiting.
Just pick the absolute best.
(And remember, I've had about 15-20 years to come up with these ideas, so I might have a leg-up on some... ;) )
I'll start with my top three:

* "Don't Worry, Baby" -- The Beach Boys
* "Geeks Get the Girls" -- American Hi-Fi
* "Accidentally In Love" -- Counting Crows

Might be back with more later. Trouble is, I'm more used to thinking of "soundtracks" for contentious fictional relationships rather than amicable ones, so I have to sort through a lot of mental detritus.
Your thoughts on the matter are of course, greatly appreciated!

Fondest Regards,
~*EJ4Ever*~

LOVE IT!

I have LOTS!

"He's So Shy" Pointer Sisters

"How Will I Know" Whitney Houston

"Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" John Mayer

"Someday" by Nickleback (see my vid on YOUTUBE)

"Scientist" by Coldplay (not really a fan of the song, but most people say it represents Egon)

"Always on My Mind" Elvis Presley

"No One Needs to Know Right Now" and "I'm Gonna Getcha" by Shania Twain

"You Should Hear How She Talks About You" Melissa Manchester

"I Can Wait Forever" by Air Supply.

From the GB1 Soundtrack.

Though longtime readers probably knew I'd pick that one already

Well, I think a big part of it is the place it was released: the GB1 soundtrack.

And if you actually listen to the lyrics, about love triumphing over separation, that seems to me to be very indicative of their relationship, at least in the combined GBOT/fan fic universe. Between Egon's troubles admitting his feelings, Janine's stupid flings, and the six years between RGB and EGB, they have to endure a lot of separation before their happy ending.

I tend to think all the song I like fit my favorite ships, but here are some for E/J

Make this go on forever - Snow Patrol (after reading Forever, it just feels right for them)

Hot' n' Cold - Katy Perry (well there is a E/J Video on youtube ;) )

And I could probably ad Wakinng up in Vegas from her aswell after reading about an early draft of GBI  )

Release Me - Agnes

Forgive Me - Leona Lewis

I have a couple of suggestions... somewhat more downbeat though.

For Egon / Janine as of the end of "As Dreams Fade":
After Forever - Empty Memories (song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hIHM_m_4f0 - lyrics: http://metal-archives.com/release.php?id=141096).

"Times changed forever that night
Leaving only empty memories
Empty memories won''t heal the pain

We know only sorrow
There's no future in tomorrow
All our hopes have buried too young
For the years that should have followed

We know only hatred
There's no future in our anguish
For our hope was buried with life
And reprisal will be ours"

For Egon as of "Nodus":
Candlemass - Man of Shadows (song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJf9tpUcBAY - lyrics: http://metal-archives.com/release.php?id=150215).

"Everyday, a grey and sad day
I dip my love in soul pain
And still looking for things to detest
Beware of the love that you’ll regret"

And another addition, I think it goes well with Janine in "Clinically Insane":

And the singer is redheaded. :)

Drat, the video (and the whole account) are offline. If only I could remember what song I was referring to... Silly me. The band is presumably Epica, though - they're the only band I know to have a gorgeous redheaded female singer. :D

Here's another cool song I've found, fitting for Egon / Janine in the "interim" period, mid-90s.

Tristania - Exile, Kjetil Nordhus as Egon and Mariangela Demurtas as Janine. That was one of my first thoughts upon hearing the song.

Hey, how' about "It Was Always You" by Maroon 5? It could apply to either one of them. Just replace the hazel eyes lyric with either blue(Egon) or green(Janine), and there ya go.

"Janine" by David Bowie :P

Oh my love, Janine
I'm helpless for your smile
Like a Polish wanderer
I travel ever onwards to your land
And were it not just for the jewels, I'd close your hand

Your strange demand
To 'collocate' my mind
Scares me into gloom
You're too intense
I'll have to keep you in your place
I've no defence
I've got to keep my veil on my face

Janine, Janine, you'd like to know me well
But I've got things inside my head
That even I can't face

Janine, Janine, you'd like to crash my walls
But if you take an axe to me
You'll kill another man
Not me at all

You're fey, Janine
A tripper to the last
But if I catch you standing on my toes
I'll have a right to shout you down
For you're a lazy stream
In which my thoughts would drown

So stay, Janine
And we can glide along
I've caught your wings for laughs
I'm not obliged to read you statements of the year
So take your glasses off
And don't act so sincere

Janine, Janine, you'd like to know me well
But I've got things inside my head
That even I can't face

Janine, Janine, you'd like to crash my walls
But if you take an axe to me
You'll kill another man
Not me at all

Hmm, I wonder if I've heard that one..... *runs off to iTunes*

Nope, not the one I'm thinking of. I was thinking of the song by Trooper, also called "Janine".
